Mary Belle Cordell was invited to write the history of hand painted porcelain dinnerware in the White House in Washington DC and also show several of her porcelain pieces in the book “Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln.” This year is Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday. The United States Congress extablished the Bicentennial commission and invited the National league of American Pen Women to be a part of this nation wide educational program and public forum. The book reflects the artistic, dramatic, literary and musical works of women across the country and helps to commemorate Lincoln the man and his times. On November 18, 2009 the Freedoms Foundatin at Valley Forge presented the National league of American PenWomen with the George Washington Medal of Honor for their Americanism and the book “Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln. ” Mary Belle is honored to have been selected to be represented in this book.
