celeste2_maybeThe porcelain painting of Anne has been selected by the 2016 SAAG National Juried Show. There were 300 national entries entered in this show. The artwork selected for this exhibit will be on display in the Richard Low Evans Gallery in the Art Center from October 15- November 12, 2016.  Opening reception and awards ceremony is October 15th, 5pm to 7pm. The SAAG National Juried Show attracts several artists from over 25 different states and draws an audience interest from not only a regional level, but from across the country. The art center is located in the historic Court House.

The Blue Ridge Arts Association will be showing and selling porcelain pendants and art work by Mary Belle Cordell at the Blue Ridge Georgia Art Center.
The Art Center exhibits contemporary and multi­cultural arts. The Art Center is located in the Fannin Co. Courthouse which is on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Mary Belle will be a guest artist for six month.

Luminous Porcelain Art

Marco Polo brought porcelain objects back from his historic travels in China but it was not until 1708 that the technique of porcelain painting was discovered in Europe. Mary Belle Cordell teaches this unique art at the Boca Museum the Art School.
Luminous translucent oil based paints are used and fired at 1400 degrees in a kiln to produce each fine art piece of porcelain.

Mary Belle Cordell will be exhibiting her porcelain painting of Azaleas in the Karpe/es Manuscript Library Museum at 101 W 1st street in Jacksonville, Fl. The museum features original manuscripts of science, art and literature in a Neoclassical building.

Mary Belle was in a program about Vinnie Ream which was sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women. Mary Belle is a member, past president and National Art Chairmen of this group of inspired women. Vinnie Ream was 18 years old when she sculpted, in marble, the statue of Abraham Lincoln that is exhibited in the Capital in Washington D. C. This very talented woman was a member of the Pen Women.
The Pen Women have collected many historic papers about Vinnie Ream that will be exhibited along with selected fine art. The exhibit will take place from Sept 3, 2016, until October 30, 2016 . Opening reception: September 9, 2016, from 5-8 PM Address: 101 W 1st Street, Jacksonville, Fl 32206.

The china painting class will be held on Friday morning from 9am until 12pm. Beginners are welcome and will be encouraged by the teacher and other students. Mary Belle has been on the staff teaching china painting for 14 years. Her expertise in this fine art is extended to all of her students. All of your blank porcelain, brushes, paints,firing and solvents will be supplied to you in porcelain_art_example-3this class for a supply fee which is charged by the teacher each semester. You may paint on tiles, plates, small vases or trays, etc. Come and enjoy this fun class with other fun students.

Abstract Palette Knife Painting with Enamel and China Paint at the Boca Museum the Art School: Modern Porcelain Painting

Mary Belle Cordell will be teaching abstract palette knife painting with textured enamel which will be colored with china paint.  This powder will be mixed with a closed drying medium and will be painted with a palette knife on a 14 X 16 tile.  You will finish one tile in this class and will be able to pick up the kiln fired tile at the school in one week.  This class will be held on November 19, 2016, tuition: $110.00 Time 9:30am until 1:00pm.  There will be a material fee of $25 for this class. Mary Belle will be showing an example of this class and her china painting class at the open house at the school on August 27 from 1pm-4pm.  Address 801 W. The Pear

Mary Belle Cordell will be exhibiting her porcelain art paintings of “Christ on the road to Emmaus” and “The Pear” in the art gallery at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Atlanta Georgia.  The Fall show will feature the Fall colors in the paintings.  The church has a very active artists group and will have seven shows in the coming year.  Mary Belle will be showing her art in these shows.
