Mary Belle Cordell has selected one of the Bonnet House carousel animals to paint for her entry in the Viva Florida 500, Best in Show Series at Gallery 928 located at 928 NE 20th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida opening July 25, 2013 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

The ornate saddle that is on the lion featured in her porcelain picture is decorated with colored enamel and 14K gold fired in a kiln at a temperature of 1800 degrees.  The second tile in the picture features the lion wearing the gilded saddle.  What a magnificent beast.

The award winning picture titled Storm on the Beach will also be previewed during this show.

George Washington Porcelain Painting

The Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge has commissioned porcelain artist Mary  Belle Cordell to paint a picture of George Washington to be unveiled on February 17, 2013 at a fund raiser at a private home.  The porcelain art picture will be auctioned off at the Freedom Foundation Ball on February 23, 2013 at the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale.

I am very honored to be selected topaint a picture of one of our great presidents.  Each year the Freedoms Foundation raises funds to send selected young people to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to learn about our government.

Last year the Freedoms Foundation gave an award to the book “Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln.”  I was one of the writers featured in this book.   I wrote about the porcelain dinnerware that has been used in the White House by each president.

100_1191June 2, 2013 marked the second year that porcelain artist Mary Belle Cordell co-chaired the day long tile painting event with the Boca Raton The School of the Arts.  Cancer survivors and their families arrived on Sunday morning to paint tiles for their loved ones.  Each person painted a poem or thought that had helped them through difficult times.  The tiles painted this year will be added ot the two hundred tiles that were painted last year.  The tiles are on the wall of the lobby at the Lynn Cancer Institute, 701 NW 13 Street, Boca Raton, FL 33268.  The art work is truly amazing and may be seen by all who pas through this beautiful building.

Mary Belle has added her expertise by asking for donations and ordering glazes for this project.  She also painted and helped glaze many of the tiles that were completed.
