Mary Belle Cordell has been studying egg tempera and water guilding gold leaf with Russian painters Suzanne Scherer and Pavel Ouporov. Studying this old masters style of painting with these world class artists has been a wonderful experience for me.

The Getty Museum in California is now showing this type of art work from Venice, featuring Icons painted with egg tempera and gold leaf. I traveled to California and was privileged to see this exhibit.

Porcelain art students of Mary Belle Cordell will be exhibiting their class work in the Boca Museum the Art school gallery from January 28th until February 8th ,2013. The National League of American Pen Women is an organization comprised of women in the arts, letters and music. Mary Belle is professional artist and writer in this organization. She has also been president, and women of the year of the Fort Lauderdale branch. She was also appointed to be the National Art Chairmen and reviewed all art work presented for membership in this organization. 

Recently Mary Belle and Gail Smith, musician and composer were Featured in the National Pen Women newsletter. Mary Belle’s porcelain art was printed on the jacket of Gail Smith’s new CD titled “Reflections.” Their collaboration as Pen Women has been very successful.

Mary Belle Cordell will be showing her porcelain paintings in the Impressions fine art show in the Carl Weinhardt Gallery at the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens. The show will be on display from May 7th until March s” 2013. Bonnet House is located at 900 N. Birch Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mary Belle is vice president of the Bonnet House Alliance and is also a member of Bonnet House Fine Artist Guild.

Butterfly Piano

Butterfly Piano Porcelain Art by Mary Belle Cordell

Mary Belle Cordell was the guest artist at the Florida State Music Teachers convention at the Grand Hotel in Boca Raton Florida. She presented the National and State music teachers presidents with her original art work titled, The Butterfly Grand Piano.

The porcelain art displayed at this convention featured musical notes on small boxes, and large tiles featuring pianos and notes.

Mary Belle recently was invited to present weekly art classes for the women who attend Taylor’s Closet. Taylor’s Closet is a nonprofit organization that helps girls in the Foster Care system of Broward County. Designers and stores donate new cloths to be given to the girls. The girls are so happy to receive two new out fits each month. Receiving counseling and lots of love from the caring staff is also part of the program.

Mary Belle also sponsored a table at a tea to raise funds for Taylors Closet. Mary Belle hand painted manatee plates and tea pots for this event. Each Hand painted plate featured a different manatee.

The Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge has commissioned porcelain artist Mary Belle Cordell to paint a picture of George Washington to be unveiled on February 17, 2013 at a fund raiser at a private home. The porcelain art picture will be auctioned off at the Freedom Foundation Ball on Feb 23, 2013 at the Coral Ridge Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale.

I am very honored to be selected to paint a picture of one of our great presidents. Each year The Freedoms Foundations raises funds to send selected young people to Valley Forge, Pa. to learn about our government.

Last year the Freedoms Foundation gave an award to the book” Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln”. I was one of the writers featured in this book. I wrote about the porcelain dinner ware that has been used in the White House by each president.
